Debugging Practice, Top Ten Projects, and Graphic Header Creation

Today's Agenda:
  1. First, BEFORE you log in... Bell work! on Giant Paper! How fun! - Find and label the 6 errors in (X)HTML code in the paper on your screen. Try to get them all right by yourself! Be honest with yourself on this; you get 4 points for trying. No extra points for being right, so no point in cheating. This is PRACTICE. Keep the paper.

We NEED to get better at debugging our own code. You cannot rely on the teacher to do this for you.

Note: Errors #3 and #6 on the large bell work paper happen because you need to wrap all inline elements within a block element. We haven't learned WHY this is true yet, but it is true. See step #5 below when you are ready for the explanation.
  2. When we settle in, after debugging practice, you'll receive your top ten list grade if you resubmitted. I will answer any questions then about the TOP TEN list assignment. If you want it regraded again, let me know that you have uploaded it to the 3rd ROUND FOLDER on our ftp site.
  3. Then move on to creating your 900 x 100 pixel size graphic to adorn the top of your TOP TEN list.
  4. Go back and revalidate your code to make sure it still validates properly after you add your graphic. Remember, my example header graphic is here.
  5. If you finish everything listed above, watch this youtube video to find out the difference between BLOCK and INLINE elements on a web page.
  6. If you have finished the youtube video as well, then view this video about creating text effects (putting text on a path, such as a curve). An essential skill for any web designer. Then, create your own text on a path. Show it to me on your screen.
